About the Board

The Board of Assessors is responsible for the valuation of all real estate and personal property in Ipswich. The Board hears all appeals filed on real estate and personal property and administers all Motor Vehicle and Boat Excise Tax bills. All abatements for Motor Vehicle and Boat Excise Tax are processed through the Board of Assessors. Statutory exemptions which include senior citizens, veterans, widows and widowers, and individuals classified as legally blind are also processed through the Board.

The Board also keeps property ownership updated from deeds recorded at the Essex Registry of Deeds in Salem, Massachusetts. Tax maps are also updated from plans recorded at the Registry of Deeds.
